On Thursday, 25 of our tto pupils competed in the Nuffic Soapbox Challenge school round for a chance to participate in the selection round organised by Nuffic in Utrecht. Supported by friends and classmates and judged by a skilled jury panel consisting of native speakers of English, English teachers and former Junior Speaking contest participants, each pupil performed a speech about one of the following topics: artificial intelligence, passions, or global issues. In three sessions (2 tto, 3 tto and 4/5 tto) one school round winner was chosen who will represent our school in Utrecht on the 11th of April. The jury was impressed by each and every speech, but Sergio (HV2at), Leya (V3at) and Bart (V5a) stood out and won the competition! Samantha (H4a) was a very close runner-up in the 4/5 tto round and the jury had a difficult time choosing just one winner. In the end, Bart and Samantha decided that Samantha will participate in the selection round in Utrecht. Well done to all contestants and congratulations winners!
